Gerasimos Stouraitis

Early years

Gerasimos Stouraitis was born in Athens in 1946, where he completed his primary and secondary education, as well as a course of study in the German language. In 1964, he moved to Aachen, Germany, where he worked and studied Civil Engineering, graduating as a scholarship student in 1970. After completing his military service in Greece, he returned to Germany, where, from 1974 onwards, he worked and specialised in the design and supervision of major construction projects.

The path to homeopathy

During the 1980s, he turned his attention to Homeopathy, studying it in Germany and the United Kingdom. From that point forward, as a true devotee of the discipline, he practised it professionally in Greece as the first Greek non-medical homeopath, while working tirelessly for its recognition and wider dissemination throughout the country through seminars, lectures, books and other activities. In 1993, he founded the Hippocratic Centre for Classical Homeopathy (IKKO), the first educational centre in Greece to offer training in Homeopathy to both medical doctors and non-medical practitioners.

Associations and institutions

In 1997, through his pioneering efforts, the Association of Greek Homeopaths (SOE) was established and subsequently became a member of the European Central Council of Homeopaths (ECCH). From 1997 to 2014, he was continuously re-elected as President of the Association of Greek Homeopaths. In January 2015, by unanimous decision of the Association’s General Assembly, he was appointed Honorary President.

In 2006, another of his visions became a reality with the establishment of the Panhellenic Association for Health Protection, whose purpose was to inform and protect the public on matters relating to vaccinations, health, nutrition, the environment and other relevant issues.

Writing and translation

Alongside his exceptionally active daily life, he also wrote and translated. Although modest in volume, his published work was rich in substance. Among his favourite subjects were the path of the Greek-Egyptian esoteric tradition towards self-knowledge and the deeper exploration of the healing art of Homeopathy. In recognition of his literary activity, he became a member of the Society of Greek Writers in 2001.

His legacy

At the end of September 2024, he embarked upon his journey towards “his final destination”, as he himself was accustomed to saying. He was an outstanding teacher of Classical Homeopathy and a passionate advocate who fought tirelessly for the dissemination and advancement of Homeopathy in Greece.

His work is carried forward by his wife and lifelong companion, Theano Rentzi-Stouraitis, and their son, Orestis Stouraitis. Alongside them stand other graduates of IKKO—devoted students of Samuel Hahnemann and Gerasimos Stouraitis—moving forward together, guided by their vision and example.
